About Anak Terlantar Foundation

On March 14, 1995, the Anak Terlantar Foundation was established to help children without home or parental care. We are committed to orphans, abandoned children, and children who have fallen into trouble in other ways. We are a small foundation and visit all projects we support regularly.

Our mission is to give these children a safe place and a better future. We do this by drawing attention and support for projects, homes and specific children who need help. We also provide financial resources to improve their living conditions and development opportunities.

In the past, we have supported projects and homes in Bolivia, India, and Indonesia. Currently, we are focusing on Indonesia, where we contribute to medical projects and the Eagle's Nest Orphanage in Semarang. Every year, we provide financial support to this orphanage, and we also mediate contacts; recently, a Dutch entrepreneur with a company in Semarang made a significant donation thanks to our connection.

Our Board

Mr. Nico Tuijn

convener

Retired judge

“Kids are the future. It's cliche but true. And that is why I am committed to orphans and children with disorders or illnesses. Because making a child healthy or giving an orphan a perspective again makes me happy.”

Mr. Rob van Buul

secretary

Lawyer at Steijven and Bonnier in Eindhoven

“It's often heartbreaking to see a child like that with a large tumor or other condition. While there is something you can do about it with not too much money. That is why I am committed to Anak Terlantar. It's nice to really be able to do something.”

Frans Kneefel AA

treasurer

Finance manager a.i. in business

“I realize that the place where you are born determines how much prosperity and happiness you have in life. That's why I think it's important to do something for people who weren't as lucky as me, in addition to my job.”

A nonprofit foundation

Our foundation is entirely non-profit, and an accountant checks our finances every year. Since 1 January 2008, we have been recognized as ANBI (Public Benefit Institution), which makes the inheritances and donations we receive exempt from taxes. Donors can also deduct their donation for tax purposes in accordance with the applicable rules. Since 2012, these rules have been relaxed, with a lower threshold for private deduction and no longer a threshold for companies.

Our remuneration policy

The members of the foundation's board do not receive any remuneration. We try to visit the projects every year and bear our costs (such as travel and accommodation) entirely ourselves. The construction and hosting of our website are also provided pro bono. So nothing sticks to the bow. Your donation is entirely for the benefit of the children in Indonesia. For many donors, this is the reason for donating an amount to a small foundation.

Financial control

The financial administration is audited every year by a registered accountant, who is willing to do this work for our foundation free of charge. This audit meets a condition set by the tax authorities in order to classify the foundation as an ANBI, a Public Benefit Institution. On the details page, you can already find our annual results

Our ambassadors

Linda Biesot

ambassador

Probation Team Coordinator Netherlands

“During my travels in Indonesia, I saw how many children grow up under poor conditions. Often without any perspective on a better future. These children need help from other people. Anak Terlantar's strength is that there is no money hanging around. “

Alrik de Haas

ambassador

lawyer

“In addition to my legal work, I like to work for vulnerable children. As an ambassador at Anak Terlantar, I can help build a new perspective for those children. That is a privilege. In doing so, I realize that the good work is being done for people who are dependent on fellow human beings. From people like us, who often live in abundance.”

Jochum Wildeman

ambassador

Head of the International Department of Probation in the Netherlands

“I support Anak Terlantar with my deep conviction that every child has the right to a dignified future. Because of my work, I often visit Indonesia and see the challenges that children from disadvantaged situations face. I believe that loving and promising support is essential for a better future, not just for these children, but for the world as a whole.”

Grada van Deutekom, Joannes van Deutekom

ambassadors

board advisor/college secretary for the municipality of Hollands Kroon, interim manager of Spatial Planning

“It's great what the employees of the Anak Terlantar Foundation do for disadvantaged children and orphans. We feel privileged to be part of that as ambassadors. It determines the enormous prosperity in which we live and calls on us to deal with it responsibly. With gratitude and love in our hearts, we are connected to this.”
